Luxury footwear brand Essemm is helmed by the Maskara’s. Each product is handcrafted and made with ample of love and affection. Essemm is the brainchild of Mr. Sunil Maskara along with his wife Mrs. Sangita Maskara. They conceived this idea when they came across a few craftsmen who were underpaid for customized handmade shoes. They made the blueprint of this label and then passed on the idea to his daughter Sachi Maskara, while she was working as an intern in O n M. This gave birth to Essemm accessories in 2008. The name was suggested by Mrs. Sangita as it echoed like the pronunciation of Sachi’s initials.
The new served responsibility was a task for Sachi as she was an amateur in designing. She followed her instinct and dived into the flowing water of this homegrown luxury label. Shortly after her understanding of the shoe industry, she realized that there was a void for bridal footwear and specially customized ones. So she took the lead for filling this void and focused mainly on customization for one of the most auspicious and big day of everyone's life. Every day was new learning for her. Some days experiences were her teacher and on the other she learned the nitty-gritty from the craftsman about the basics of a shoe designing. Soon, bridal customization became the forte of Essemm shoes and they shined in the trend of hand-embroidered shoes. After excelling in shoes Essemm started their second line of a trend which was co-ordinated clutch to the shoes.
In 2013, the designs got more casual and were focused on everyday wearing so that Essemm could now become a part of your everyday life too along with being the witness to precious days. All the shoes are handcrafted and hand-embroidered by local artisans in Mumbai.
Essemm started on the tables of various exhibitions and pop-ups but now can be found on the racks of various designer stores across the country.
